The Obliteration Room by Yayoi Kusama

identity / march 9th (2012) / 11:25 PM / from Grabels (Near Montpellier) / The Cranberries Roses

I know Yayoi Kusama work since it in the Peter Gabriel EVE CD-rom project... back in 1994 ! This project was amazing for his time, and as I talk about it I check on google and found this video of it. Anyway, the subject here is Yayoi Kusama , a contemporary Japanese artist who puts dots all over her world.

I heard about this recent project on Yellow Trace : Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) has been showing her work, part of this event is a seriously cooltown interactive installation for children called The Obliteration Room - a series of rooms were painted completely in white where every room surface, piece of furniture and decoration was treated as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, kids were given thousands of colour dot stickers and were encouraged to make their creative contribution towards transforming the white space into one exploding with vibrant colours.

I think it is magical !

Today I am in Nîmes ;) When I was at my friend place last week I met Guillaume Maguet, and I was amazed by his painting work. Of course, it looks so much better in real, it is deep, texture absorbs you into the paint...

Everyone ever in the world by The luxury of protest

other / november 28th / 11:48 PM

This poster was done by Peter Crnokrak, it represents roughly what the title says: every person who lived and died on the planet, from 3200 B.C.E. to 2009 C.E. The total paper area represents the 78 billion people who lived over the past 5000 years. The gaping hole in the center represents every person who died in a major war, genocide, or massacre: approximately 969 million people, or 1.25% of the total number of people who have ever lived on the planet...
